Wondering what to do with that Say No to War in Iraq sign? Consider a creative conversion so that you can continue to reuse and recycle your sign.
Sign conversion ideas:
Paint over the words with Iraq so your sign simply reads, Say No to War.
Replace the word Iraq with a ? to indicate the ambiguity of this permanent war of terror.
Replace the word Iraq with the nation of your choice (or a list of nations), such as Syria, North Korea, Iran, etc.
Turn your sign around. Paint some facts about the war on the back of your sign. Looking for helpful sources for those facts? Go to www.natprior.org, www.costofwar.com, or www.iraqbodycount.com.
Replace your sign with a Gardening for Peace sign. Keep your Iraq sign for future use.
Or, leave your sign as is. After all, the war of occupation has only just begun.
Sign conversion tips:
If you are going to paint, use oil-based paints (latex and acrylic paints will crack and peel as the sign flexes in the wind).
Some signs have been converted by simply taping over words to be changed, then writing over with a marker.
Keep in mind that it is the message that counts!
If you have converted your sign, send WAMM a photo of your work (please send a digital file by e-mail to wamm@mtn.org). We will be posting photos of creative conversions online. |
