Phyllis Goldin, W A M M
|
Sung to the tune of Stephen Foster's "Hard Times"
Let us pause to consider the year that's passed away
Imagine what time holds
in store
We are all here together to
seek a different way
As WAMM did in 2004
The world, the world is
a-changing
Dark lies, bad guys knock
down freedom's door
Everywhere war is raging,
growing numbers are the poor
Oh hard times here again
once more
Bring home the troops now from occupied Iraq
Tell them greed is not worth fighting for
Defending justice, WAMM
will not turn its back
While blood is spilled on
foreign shores
Humanitarian intervention
Myth, myth, what's with
Administration lore
Their spin is invention,
propaganda's on the floor
Human rights are trampled more and more
We need only look at Gaza and West Bank
To see that Israel runs the store
The Promised Land is getting really rank
Palestine neglected to its core
The will, the will of the people
Cannot, must not, will not be ignored
Occupation is evil, WAMM speaks to underscore
Sovereign lands deserve respect once more
U.S. globalization, stealing near and far
In other countries is deplored
Many years WAMM has lingered, around forbidden doors
Protesting corporate warlords
Women of this wide world
Light the candles for children lost to war
WAMM takes on hurdles
from Iraq to East Timor
In hopes that peace can
be restored
The peace that WAMM is
working for |
