WAMM members have long identified major U.S. media as a root cause of problems because of the way issues of militarism, and foreign policy and related domestic problems are addressed. That’s why, from time to time, in its 26 years of existence, WAMM has formed committees to specifically address the issue of media. Mary Shepard is well remembered in the Twin Cities community for addressing mass media issues.
With even more media consolidation today, the need to address media continues. To this end, several WAMM members currently interested in media issues, met on May 2 to discuss the formation of a new committee.
Sue Ann Martinson is the chair of the new WAMM Media Committee. She was part of the Counter Propaganda coalition; hosted a media critique monthly program on cable TV with John Slade and organized the “Cry Justice!” conference featuring Amy Goodman of DemocracyNow! Sue Ann has also been a panel member on several media workshops in the Twin Cities.
