Press Advisory: Bashir Family Held Prisoner in their Own Home
August 27 2005

The family of Khalil Bashir, residents of Deir Al Balah, next to Kfar Darom settlement, have been held prisoner by Israeli occupation forces in one room of their own home since 15 August 2005.

The Bashir household has been occupied by the Israeli Occupation army since the beginning of the Intifada, who transformed the top floor of the house into a military observation post, forcing the family to live on the ground floor. Now, due to the increased activity of the Israeli occupation military in the vicinity, the entire family composed of 8 people (2 adults, 6 children) have been locked in one room for 9 days, prevented from using telephones, and are only permitted to use the bathroom twice a day. Sources which have been able to briefly access the area today, report the family's request that their story be covered by the international media.
